Video

Human Rights Watch has a channel on YouTube. And I found a video that discusses their investigation into untested rape kits and its result.

  1. It’s a waste of time creating a rape kit that will not be tested, especially since so much time is put into creating it. The whole point is to be able to help find the rapist, but if rapists know that most rape kits are not even being tested then that will potentially allow them to continue to rape. Also after such attacks it takes a lot from the victim who is emotionally and physically in pain to go to a hospital to get a rape kit done. If these kits are not even being tested then I think these victims will become discouraged to even seek help after they are raped. I believe it’s the hospitals responsibility to test these kits particularly if they agreed on making it for the victim. More supervision needs to make sure that these tests are getting done for the sake of supporting the rape victims and also in an attempt to decrease rapes.
